At RestlessIDE, we are trying to become the standard in web-based software development. This goes beyond just providing a convenient text editor. We want to enable new ways to work, where any Internet-connected device can turn into a workstation. Where you can see at an instant the current status of your codebase, FTP a file up to a web server if you need to, or touch up or rescale an image and you’re away from your office machine.
All of our product decisions go towards that goal, and it’s only going to get better.
2. Cloud Pricing is Busted...
Taking advantage of Cloud services used to feel like an epiphany. You get charged only for what you use, with very little up front. What can possibly go wrong? Plenty.
Deceptively low prices are quoted for usage patterns that don’t work in the real world. With many services, you really have no idea how much you’re paying by the end of the month. Everything is metered: How many hours you are online. How many users you have. How much storage space you use. What versions of a particular package you’re using. And somehow the prices always seem to go up. Multiply this by 10 different vendors.
…And We’re Fixing It.
Our pricing is very predictable. A single subscription price, and add-ons for each user and Host added to your account. Once you have a Host, you can fill it up with whatever you want as long as far as memory or disk space allows. If you don’t need a service or workspace right now, turn it off to save memory and it’ll be there when you need it. Need more space? Grab another Host. Don’t need one? Shut it off and it’s off your bill next month.
There isn’t any guesswork or additional cost for using the hardware you’re already paying for, whether you’re using it 10 hours or 720 hours a month.

By keeping our costs low, we aren’t under any pressure to grow fast or show hockey sticks to investors.
